In 2005 the North-Holland contractor Johan Huibers started with building a replica of Noah's Ark. In April 2007 the Ark opened to the public.

History
 Huibers: "In 1992 I received a dream. "I saw Holland disappearing under a huge flood, comparable to the tsunami in South east-Asia." After this dream he received more  messages.  Johan Huibers does not expect a new flood like Noah, but he feels it is his assignment to re-tell the Bible story and to bring it closer to the people, trough the Ark. "I want to make Noah´s story visual for the people,  to make the story more lively for people who believe and for those who don’t." Johan Huibers aims at the children by building the Ark. Noah’s story is very interesting for the children because of all the animals. In the Ark you even find real size polyester models of animals. Visitors can watch a movie and walk through an exposition of bible stories.

Fourteen years after Johan’s dream, in June 2005, he started building the Ark in Schagen (Holland). Six days a week, from 8 till 5 he worked on the Ark. Assisted by his son Roy. On Saturdays volunteers came to help them finish the Ark. Right before the opening the First staff members where hired. In an interview he said: "Personnel can’t work with the same drive on this project. The way I work, the impulsiveness, will drive people crazy." In April 2007 Noah’s Ark was officially opened. Since the opening Noah’s Ark has had over 500.000 Visitors.

Relocate and location   
Noah´s Ark was build on top of a pontoon. The Ark needs two boats to be relocated. Noah’s Ark has had over 15 locations all over Holland. The first was Schagen. After that the Ark traveled to Rotterdam, Sliedrecht, Arnhem, Huizen, Lelystad, Urk, Kampen, Amsterdam,  Drachten, Sneek, Oudeschild (on the island Texel), Schagen, Zaandam and more places in Holland. Vlissingen is the 20th place. Noah’s Ark will stay there till the 11th of September.  

Next location(s)

The next locations of the Ark are still unknow. Until the 10th of july the ark will be in Werkendam. The following location is not yet known.

When a new location is known for the period after Vianen will be posted on our website as soon as possible.

Financial information
Johan Huibers paid for this project himself. He hopes to generate a small return on investment by collecting entrance money. At the moment most of the entrance fee is being used for the real size Ark. (You will find all of the information on this subject behind the link "Real size Ark").

Noah´s Ark real size
The builders are making progress on the real size Ark. This Ark is being built in Dordrecht. The work is supposed to be finished in 2010. In 2012 Noah´s Ark will make the first trip overseas to the Olympic Games in London, England!

Facilities on board
There are several payment options:

- Pin
- Mastercard
- Visa Card (for use mastercard or visa card we charge 3% extra)

Pets are allowed if leashed.

There are no guided tours on board. You can follow the footprint trough the Ark, that is the tour. In the flyer that you will receive with your ticket you can read a written down tour. We have English and German translated versions.

There are toilets on board the ark. There is also a disabled toilet with a shelf to chance the diaper of baby's.

Currently, the elevator on board is not available. We hope it is again within two weeks.

On the top floor you will find vending machines. In these machines you can find hot and cold drinks, cakes and candy. For the payment of those items you need euro coins. Money can be exchanged at the checkout. You can and may bring your own lunch to the Ark. We have no ability to heat food on board.

There is a lot to see and learn on board. To support there is designed a quiz in the form of a quest.

At the exit is a small shop where you can buy books, DVDs and other souvenirs of the Ark.

Houserules
- Smoking on board of the Ark is prohibited.
- All the animals on board can be touched.
- Running on board of the Ark is prohibited.
- The team reserves the right to hold visitors accountable for inappropriate behavior.
